THEMATIC MODULES
Module 2 - uNDERSTANDING CHILD ABUSE
This module provides introductory information about child abuse and exploitation. It can be used by all ACT Alliance members - even if you "don't work with children". It could be used for orientation, induction or training of:
- Child protection and safeguarding focal points
- Program staff that work directly with children
Module 3 - Child Safe Organisations - Policies and Practices
This module will help participants reflect on the child safeguarding practices of their own organisation and identify strengths and gaps in these practices. It can be used by all ACT Alliance members - even if you "don't work with children", particularly by:
- Staff that are involved in policy development, decision making and leadership
- Child Safeguarding Focal Points
- Board members
Module 4 – Human Resources and Child Safeguarding
This module can be used by all ACT Alliance members - even if you "don't work with children" particularly by:
- Child Safeguarding Focal Points
- Human Resources staff and staff involved in recruitment, training and information management.
Module 5 – Communications and Child Safeguarding
This module gives guidance on child safe practices for taking, storing and publishing images and stories about children. It can be used by all ACT Alliance members - even if you "don't work with children", particularly by:
- Child Safeguarding Focal Points
- Communications and fundraising staff
- Project staff that take photos and stories for case studies
- Staff that maintain the organisation's website and social media sites
- Contractors hired to take photos and gather communications or fundraising resources
- Visiting personnel from partner organisations that may wish to take photos of your work and the community members you work with (eg staff from donor partners on monitoring visits)
Module 6 – Child Safeguarding and the Child Protection Minimum Standards (CPMS)
This module can be used by all ACT Alliance members - even if you "don't work with children", particularly by,
- Staff involved in planning, implementing and monitoring humanitarian projects
- Staff that are interested in learning more about the Child Protection Minimum Standards
NB - this module is more focused on Child Protection (via the Child Protection Minimum Standards) as opposed to Child Safeguarding.
