INTRODUCTION TO CHILD SAFEGUARDING
WHO IS THIS MODULE USEFUL FOR?
This module is an introduction to child safeguarding concepts. It can be used by all ACT Alliance members - even if you "don't work with children". It could be used for orientation, induction, or training of:
- All staff, from all departments of the organisation
- Board members
- Volunteers
- Contractors
LEARNING OUTCOMES
The learning outcomes for this module include:
- Defining child safeguarding and child protection
- Identifying the differences between child safeguarding and child protection
- Understanding the difference between an "internal" concern and an "external" concern
- Understanding how a Code of Conduct can protect children, the organisation, and staff from abusers, and be able to articulate what can go wrong if a policy is not in place and/or not properly implemented
- Understanding the importance of mainstreaming child safeguarding, and articulate examples of how child safeguarding can be mainstreamed across various activities of an organisation
