Dear Mercy. Agroecological principles guide the resource and systems management - and every context is different and faces its own challenges and opportunities. The conditions on the ground are the starting point for designing agroecological practices. Landscaping should consider whether there is a need to make terraces to retain water and reduce run-off - or, on the contrary: divert water to avoid water erosion and topsoil loss. Trees can be planted to hold the soil, provide shade and extract nutrients from deep layers of soil if appropriate in the context; selection of plant species and management systems (intercropping, relay cropping, rotations etc) should be adapted to the context etc. Please let me know if you are interested in getting the Action Guide on Agroecology. Warm regards, Mette
