Can I make a copy of my Learning Site?

It is possible to make a copy of your Learning Site.

If you would like to do that, simply follow the steps described in this guide.

Step 1: Create a new Learning Site that will become a copy of your current Learning Site. We have explained how to do it in this guide: Access the guide.

Step 2: Once you have created a new Learning Site, click on the “Turn editing on” button on that brand new Site:

Step 3: In the menu that appeared on the left, click on “More” and then on “Import”:

Here you can import content from the Learning Site that you want to make a copy of.

Step 4: You need to select the Learning Site (“course”) that you want to import content from:

If you cannot find the Site you are looking for, scroll to the bottom of the page and write its name (“URL handle”) in the Search field, then click on the “Search” button:

Once you have found the Learning Site you were looking for, select it by clicking on the round button at the beginning of the line and click on “Continue”:

Step 5: You can decide which parts of the Learning Site you want to import.

If you want to make a copy of the entire Learning Site, select all parts and click on “Next”:

Step 6: Next, you can choose which sections and Activities you want to import.

Again, if you want to make a copy of the entire Learning Site, select all sections and Activities, and click on “Next”:

You will then get to the overview of your chosen settings.

Step 7: To start making a copy of your Learning Site, click on “Perform import”:

The import will then begin.

It might take a little while to complete the import; please do not close your browser while the site is re-loading.

Once the site has re-loaded, you will see a green message that the import has been completed.

Step 8: Simply click on “Continue” to return to your Learning Site and see the results:

Now that the import has been completed, you should see that the new Learning Site that you had created looks exactly like your other Learning Site.

We recommend that you name them differently to avoid confusion, for instance by adding “copy” at the end of the name of the new Site.
