Section outline

  • 'Small Talk, Big Change' is DCA's dialogue-based game to help facilitate yearly talks across the organisation about our joint climate change action. The objective is to commit to and carry out actions that lower our carbon footprint in our offices and at work.

It is written in our internal climate policy that middle managers and country directors are responsible for ensuring that climate change is addressed at least once every year in their groups, where practices, processes and methods are considered. 'Small Talk, Big Change' has been made to foster this yearly dialogue.

On this page, you can find, download and print the game and its instructions as well as a Climate Action Plan. We recommend that you spend about 1 hour on the game itself, everything included,  and then set aside about 30 minutes to fill out the Climate Action Plan together. The game works best with 3-5 players, so if you are more people, it is recommended to play in smaller groups.

    • Small Talk, Big Change is designed for print. On the red button below, you can download the cards needed to play as well as necessary instructions for print.

It is important that you print the game on single-sided paper, as you will need to cut out cards for the game with a pair of scissors.

To be as environmentally friendly as possible, the game is designed for print in Black & White.

  • The below video with DCA's Resilience & Climate Change Advisor, Alma GarcĂa, provides a brief instruction on how to play the game.

You can appoint a game master to watch the video and read the instructions beforehand or you can play the video for everyone before starting the game.

    • To follow up on the dialogues initiated through the game, it is recommended that the team sets aside time (at least 30 minutes) after playing or at another meeting to fill out the below Climate Action Plan together.

The plan can be downloaded through the red button below and is designed for print in A3. After you have filled out the plan, you can hang it somewhere in the office as a daily reminder of your agreed commitments.

    • We would love to get your feedback on the game and the Action Plan, so that we can continue to improve these tools along the way! Click below to fill out our feedback form - it shouldn't take you more than 3-5 minutes. Thanks in advance!
