The aim of
the CHS TOT workshop is to build the capacity of trainers to facilitate
training on the
Core Humanitarian Standard. While facilitated remotely, the
course focuses on the delivery of
face-to-face workshops.
Who should attend?
This course
is designed for people who already have experience in facilitating face-to-face
training.
Participants are expected to have experience of quality and
accountability toward affected
communities and knowledge of the Core
Humanitarian Standard. Your mission will be to develop
learning materials, so it´s great if you are familiar with Power-point and/or other digital tools.
Course content
Working
from a trainer’s perspective, this TOT will examine sessions on the Core
Humanitarian
Standard: introductory course. Participants will reflect on the
content and methodology of the
sessions, through the lens of adult learning
principles. Participants will experience elements of the
course and critically
review existing sessions. They will also have the opportunity to prepare their
own session plans in small teams and receive feedback from facilitators and
their peers.
Course format
The course
will be delivered across 6 weeks and will involve around 22 hours study time.
This
includes an introductory session on adult learning principles (1.5 hours),
five remotely facilitated
synchronous sessions focusing on the CHS course (3
hours each) and 4 asynchronous team exercises,
lasting around 1 to 1.5 hour each. Participants are expected to attend all facilitated sessions and complete
team-work exercises in order to receive the certificate.
Please note that participants
will need to have a stable internet connection to participate,
as the training requiers that you have you video on.

Charlie Dalrymple is an experienced facilitator with extensive experience of
the CHS.
He was involved in the technical advisory group that developed the
standard and is an
approved master trainer for both the “Introduction to CHS”
course and the “Training of
Trainers for CHS” (TOT) course.
