    Norwegian Church Aid  works on prevention and response to Gender-Based Violence (GBV), and the links this has to Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR).   Our goal is for women and girls to live empowered lives free from gender-based violence.

    COMPREHENSIVE SEXUALITY EDUCATION TOOLKIT FOR NORWEGIAN CHURCH AID. 

    NCA has developed a comprehensive sexuality education toolkit, which includes and makes use of the existing best practices and methodologies to engage partners and faith actors to promote and implement CSE in communities, and secure access to CSE for adolescents/young people.    

    The toolkit is prepared within a framework of human rights and gender equality and promotes a structured learning about sexuality and relationships, in a manner that is positive affirming and centred on the best interest of the young person in line with the UNESCO’s Education 2030 Agenda.  

    Key COMPetencies for trainers of compREHENSIVE SEXUALITY EDUCATION

    All persons involved in the training of CSE need to be able to exercise the competencies listed below.

    • A commitment to ‘doing the right thing`.
    • Resilience and experience of the adolescent cohort.
    • Listen but also synthesis what is being said.

    • Recognise that you can wear many hats, you can be a coach, a mentor and a counsellor.
    • Analysis of personal beliefs and conflicting personal beliefs.
    • Be fact-based and clear.

    • The Trainers Manual was developed from other different manuals and toolkits that are tested and evidence-based. These include 'the international technical guidance on sexuality education an evidence-informed approach' by UNESCO, 'My Dreams, My Choice' and 'Go Girls''Engaging Community Leaders to Provide a Safe and Supportive Environment for Adolescent Girls and Young Women: A Tool for Facilitating Dialogue'  Toolkits by John Hopkins Center for Communication Programs, 'SASA! Preventing Violence against women' by Raising Voices, and ' Sexual and Reproductive Health Facilitators' Training Manual' by Deutsche Stiftung Weltbevoelkerung (DSW) among others. 

      The Trainers Instructional guide is informed by literature review of several other resources that have proved valuable in delivering Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) content to adolescents globally. 

      The Content Matrix shares resources and information on different age-related Comprehensive Sexuality Education topic content that could be used to facilitate further research. 

      Each topic has a complete lesson plan, selected training methodologies and evaluation methods. Trainers and facilitators will be able to adopt suggested methodologies to their context and national regulations around Comprehensive Sexuality Education.
