The project aims to prevent child marriage by empowering girls in girl's schools by forming girls' clubs to advocate against child marriage.
Rightsholders:
Young girls in girls' schools (Primary target group): Young female students in girls' schools under 16 years are the vulnerable and potential victims of child marriage.
Young girls in the community (Secondary target group): Young girls in the community under 16 years are vulnerable and potential victims of child marriage. Many of them may not be a student in the girl's school.
Duty bearer:
Leaders in the local government Union Parishad (Local govt.): They are entitled to prevent child marriage but need more organizational capacity.
Government officials in the Upazila (sub-district) Administration have to prevent child marriage. However, there is a distance between the sub-district administration and local citizens and a lack of administrative capacity in this area.
Law Enforcement Department: The police force supports preventing child marriage but is not well connected to the community.
Women Welfare Department: The Department must inform girls about rights and support initiatives to improve women's / girls' affairs. However, there is a big gap between potential victims and the Department's initiatives.
Youth Welfare Department: Must inform about women's rights and support initiatives among youth groups to improve women/girls' affairs. However, there is a big gap between potential victims of child marriage and the Youth Welfare Department.
Other actors.
Parents: Lack of awareness regarding the psychological and physical adverse impact of child marriage on young girls.
Community: Lack of awareness regarding the psychological and physical adverse impact of child marriage on young girls. Some might be aware of the effects but are unaware of how to prevent it.
