Before we begin to define the management there are a set of concepts associated with them we should differentiate between them.

The difference between vision and mission:

Vision is the remote state that you want to become.

Mission is the way that will lead you to that vision.

Let's say your vision as a state; Dubai for example, is to become the world's centre of attraction in the Middle East. This is a future case that may take 50 years to reach. This vision must be written in a clear way: "I see Dubai as the centre of the Middle East."

Mission: are the ways I will use to achieve this vision. For example, we can say that the mission of Dubai will provide necessary infrastructure, technology incubators and projects. This mission is more detailed and clearer than the vision and identifies practical tools that must be done but also should not be very detailed. We cannot say within the mission to establish five airports and twenty free zones and improve the quality of marine internet cables. We do not need this detail. It is enough to say that we are developing the infrastructure.

It should be noted that vision does not have to be changed very often and is often a foresight for the long-term commitment of the company to work to reach it. For example, if you are a car maker, you have not to say my vision is "to offer luxury cars"; economic conditions may be deteriorated around the world in 3 years and the demand for such luxury products may be disappeared! But you can put your vision "to provide means of transport suitable for all" .. Note that I said means of transport, not cars .. Perhaps I make vessels, planes and trains also .. All this will support the vision. It should not be strongly identified and should not be too loose, and should not be short-term.

Mission is always consistent with vision. If your vision is to "provide suitable transport means for all", you can formulate your mission "by making several means of cars to suit different budgets and expand production into new markets."

Note that vision is usually made in shorter expression, but mission is longer because it is more detailed.

Examples of other company visions:

Disneyland "to be the happiest place on earth"

Note with me how this vision was made. Its basic components are + happy + place + on the globe. It means that Disneyland should be the happiest place in any country. You can note they did not say like being a gymnasium, for example? Because you can be a movie theatre and be the happiest place. You can be an ice skater or swimming. The vision is related to giving happiness, which Disney means.

McDonald's "to be the best fast restaurant".

You can note they did not say to be the best in hamburgers? Because in the future will provide additional meals such as pizza and others and even provide breakfast, dinner and even drinks. So you should not link your vision with something narrow like a certain type of products. McDonald did not say to be the fastest fast food restaurant .. Because there are dozens of fast restaurants .. to be the best fastest .. which consider quality before speed, which is concerned by all customers .. No problem if your meal delays 5 minutes, but you will receive it hot, appetite and well-ranged.

Examples of missions of other companies:

Sony "Trying the fun application of technology to serve the public good"

It is the greatest expression I have read in whole of my life. Sony is so ingenious that it generates and kills new technologies. It is not a subsidiary company so it did not say that we offer the best entertainment media in the world, such as the Play Station or the Wookman. But it is a technology company that aims to adapt it to serve and entertain people, and facilitate business and everything from revolutionary floppy disk to Sony smart phones, after it bought Ericsson.

3M "to solve the problems not resolved in an innovative way"

3M is known for providing materials to solve problems in various industries such as sticker that can be removed and affixed several times with same quality. It linked its solutions with creativity and innovation. It does not offer you traditional solutions .. As long as humanity continues, problems appear that cannot be solved .. 3M will come and do it.

Wal-Mart "to give simple people the opportunity to buy the same things bought by rich people"

Wal-Mart Stores is a low-price strategy that offers you the opportunity to buy items like those bought by the rich but at affordable prices. This is due to its experience and competitive price for its sheer size. Wal-Mart did not specify the products that will be of cheaper prices with same quality. It used the psychological state of money as did not say we have the cheapest prices .. but it said we will give you the opportunity to buy things bought by rich people ,as if you became rich through us.. As long as there is a difference in the budgets of people, this mission will be always valid.

 Mission

The mission is well made if it answers three questions:

1. Why (what is your added value from your product / service? What do you believe in? What is your problem?)

2. How (How do you make your product / service?)

3. What (what is your product / service?)

If the mission you formed for your own business answers the above questions, it is often a well-designed one. You can also check whether the mission is well designed or not with the following list:

Begin with (why), then (how), and ending with (what)

P>> Many companies formulate their mission as follows:

·         We make toys (what) beautiful for children, carefully designed, safe and durable (how)

P>> Few companies start with (why) so that mission will become as follows:

·         We believe that safe playing that covers the needs of the child is the child's way to learn and grow healthy and healthy (why), and we do this by making toys (brand of the product)

What convinced you more to buy these types of games?

It is often the second mission .. This is normal because the second mission (why - how - what) began to simulate and define your need and the solution you are looking for and then offered you specifications of the product that covers that need, Finally, it mentioned the type of product or brand.

While the first tried to just sell you the product by highlighting its specifications without linking it to the customer's need.

It is originally your mission and does not match or similar to a mission of other companies

Your mission should be relevant with your employees. This is the phrase they will remember when they come early every morning to work.

Short and easy to remember, such as you can write it on a shirt that your employees can wear at work.

Verbs are used in present tense.

You can ask your employees to write their own suggestions about the company's mission and then filter them out for three or four options and then choose the appropriate, or be voted on by your employee.

Vision

The vision is well articulated if is capable of giving your reader an idea of where your business is going in the long run. You will find a set of points that will help you to design a good vision for your business:

Having passion or feelings

Inspirational

Describe where your business is going in the next 5-10 years

Verb are used in future tense

Contain verbs that indicate guidance (business direction)

Describe large and full effect

Not too general but also not specific!

It is possible to have a detailed explanation for more clarification

Contains values on which your business is based

By defining the above concepts, you will be able to identify the missions you will be doing.

In principle, management can be understood in terms of being in control, being in charge, giving direction, moving forward, supervising, overseeing, handling, administering, being the boss, being responsible and organising.

Some people are naturally good with managing skills. Others may need to spend time learning how to manage. The good news is that everyone can improve managing skills by learning.

Everybody needs skill in managing something. For example, an employee has to manage his duties and missions successfully in order to keep his job. He needs to manage relationships at the workplace. This includes getting along with difficult people and maybe a difficult boss. An employee also needs to manage himself. If he repeatedly does not manage to get to work on time, he will first get a warning and then possibly lose his job.

When a person decides to start his own business and become self-employed, managing skill requirements become even bigger. They now need to have the managing skills of both an employee and a businessperson.

What managing skills should a self-employed businessperson have? The required skills include following that everything gets done, understanding what is happening in your business every day, keeping every side of the business in control and making sure that there is enough money available to keep the business going.
