Development issue' (main area of concern)

The main aim of the proposed intervention is to foster active citizenship among young people in Hatay, Turkey. This will be achieved by maintaining a community space where individuals can engage in volunteering, participate in entrepreneurial training, plan community initiatives, enjoy recreational activities, and confidently access protection services when needed. The key objectives of the project are:

a) To empower vulnerable youth on their journey towards recovery and resilience by providing them with soft skills, life skills, sports activities, entrepreneurial training, and support for small initiatives, all within a multipurpose community center.

b) To create a welcoming environment for both host and refugee communities around the center, enabling them to access protection and legal services, particularly focusing on vulnerable and crisis-affected youth, in a safe and community-led space.

Syrian refugees in South of Türkiye mainly youth.

 Development Issues : Over the 30 years, agricultural land in Helambu Rural Municipality has shrunk by 14 times -resulting in food insecurity, nutrition etc. forcing people to migrate out of Helambu. The community forests, once an award winning concept, are not functioning properly.
